A Cool Season in Fiji, My Favourite Fiji Orange, and the Release of Issue Five

Bula,

Winter has settled into Fiji, and the mornings and evenings have been surprisingly cool.

I’ve been feeling a little under the weather since the beginning of the week, so I’ve been spending more time at home with warm drinks and plenty of rest.

Although Fiji is known for its tropical climate, this time of year can feel cooler than many visitors expect.
Concrete houses often stay cool throughout the day, making the floors surprisingly chilly.

If you’re planning a trip to Fiji during the winter season, I’d definitely recommend packing a light sweater and a pair of socks for the evenings.

One thing that always makes me feel better is a small citrus fruit I buy at the local market. Vendors usually call it Fiji Orange or Fiji Lime.

It looks a bit like a tiny lime, but its aroma and flavour are much closer to an orange.
It’s less sweet than a regular orange, with a bright citrus tang that makes it wonderfully refreshing.

I simply squeeze the juice, mix it with a little honey, add water, and enjoy it as a warm drink. It’s comforting, refreshing, and exactly what I need when I’m not feeling my best.

Yesterday also marked the release of Bula Fiji Magazine – Issue Five.

The theme of this edition is Rooted in Nature, celebrating Fiji beyond its beautiful beaches and exploring the forests, mountains, fertile landscapes, and slower way of life that make these islands so special.

We hope that as you turn each page, you’ll find a moment to slow down, reconnect with nature, and discover a sense of calm within yourself.

If you’ve already read the magazine, we’d love to hear your thoughts. Feel free to leave a comment or get in touch—we always enjoy hearing from our readers.

And although Issue Five has just been released, we’re already working on Issue Six.

We’ll continue sharing behind-the-scenes stories and everyday moments from Fiji here on our journal, so stay tuned.

Until next time, vinaka and have a wonderful day.
